UCI X GATI Programs
Students currently in grades 8 – 12 may apply for UCI x GATI, one of the only comprehensive honors high school programs that selects talented students based on multiple success indicators (not just grades and test scores) and offers the opportunity to explore research and innovation in fast-growth fields, such as:
BEAM — Biology, Engineering, AI & Medicine
GSET — Game Science & Entertainment Technology
Admitted students will receive residential and virtual program invitations to work in state-of-the-art research facilities and receive hands-on demonstrations of advanced lab techniques. All selected students will have the unique opportunity to work closely with experts who are considered leaders and top authorities in their fields. UCI x GATI programs culminate in a final capstone project that requires students to collaborate with their fellow scholars to present their research and demonstrate their innovation progress.
BEAM
Biology, Engineering, AI & Medicine
Master hands-on, university-level research in the interdisciplinary, cutting-edge fields of BEAM.
Admitted fellows will be matched with UCI faculty-led research teams to experience and learn about the authentic research process.
GSET
Game Science & Entertainment Technology
Experience the full spectrum of the gaming ecosystem and explore future careers in this dynamic and rapidly growing industry.
Admitted fellows will explore the world of esports and be matched with UCI research labs to learn about cognitive, social, and scientific research in gaming.
Program Formats
On-Campus Residential Programs
UCI X GATI’s on-campus programs offer students the opportunity to engage in advanced academic work while living in paradise — beautiful oceanside Orange County, California. While the focus is on rigorous academics and learning, the social-emotional connection and lasting friendships that result from living, mingling, and adventuring with other gifted and talented students from around the world is an integral part of the GATI summer experience. Eligible domestic BEAM and GSET residential students may enroll in a UCI Division of Continuing Education course and can receive up to four transferable academic units.
Virtual Programs
UCI X GATI’s virtual programs offer students the opportunity to remotely engage in advanced academic work and experience research and innovation processes all year round.
